Uncommon early KY banking piece with multiple vignettes of classical figures of industry, justice, and Liberty. Issued and cancelled. Dated 1853.
The Bank of Kentucky was chartered by the legislature of Kentucky in 1834. Its charter was subsequently twice extended, but was repealed by an act approved March 22, 1900. On May 1st, 1900, the National Bank of Kentucky was organized and took over its assets.
